In science, children are encouraged to observe, ask questions, test ideas, make deductions and predictions. As well as working within the classroom, science lessons provide a great opportunity to explore our local environment and work outdoors.

In Reception, children learn through Understanding the World. We encourage the children to explore the world around them and talk about the things they notice. Weekly outdoor learning sessions give our children regular opportunities to explore different aspects of our beautiful local environment.

In Years 1 to 6, we teach science skills to ensure that children develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Children 'work scientifically' by observing over time; seeking patterns; identifying, classifying and grouping; comparative and fair testing; carrying out controlled investigations and researching using secondary sources.

Science at Curridge equips our children with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science - today and for the future.
